New SNG homes available in Oxford

People waiting for an affordable home in Oxford are set to benefit from the opening of a new development in the city. The new affordable properties were created by developer Croudace Homes for housing association SNG (Sovereign Network Group) working with Oxford City Council on the site in the Cutteslowe area.

The development of 134 homes at Priory Grove is a mix of properties. SNG has committed to 67 of the total as affordable homes. Of these, 54 will be available for social rent in collaboration with Oxford City Council and 13 will be sold on a shared ownership basis to enable local people to begin their journey into owning a home of their own.

Priory Grove will be highly energy-efficient, beating Oxford City Council’s carbon reduction targets by going 60 per cent beyond building regulation requirements. This will be achieved by implementing a fabric-first design, solar PV panels and air source heat pumps.

Satwinder Kukadia, Assistant Director of Development Delivery at SNG said: “This is the beginning of what is designed to be a thriving community over many generations. It’s always an exciting moment as we see places come together that will become people’s home, but this scheme feels significant as these will help meet the huge demand in Oxford, where SNG is keen to develop many more affordable homes.”

“We know that many more than 3,400 households need an affordable place to live in Oxford, so we’d encourage anyone who may have land that could become new homes to contact SNG.”

Councillor Linda Smith, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, said: “We work closely with partners like SNG to help deliver our rolling four-year target of providing 1,600 affordable homes. SNG’s 67 social rent and shared ownership homes at Priory Grove will make a life-changing difference to people on our waiting list and those whose dream of home ownership felt impossible in Oxford. I’m so looking forward to seeing people start to move into their new homes.”
