People attending a festive community event

Festive cheer for SNG communities thanks to Winter Wishes grants

SNG (Sovereign Network Group) is bringing festive cheer to its communities by awarding almost £60,000 through its Winter Wishes Fund to 66 organisations which are supporting its communities and customers across the South of England over the festive period.

Organisations funded include Christchurch Community Partnership who will be delivering a community lunch on Christmas Day for those who would otherwise spend the festive period alone.

The event includes a traditional turkey dinner, some carol singing, plus a few games of bingo and a festive quiz which is hugely popular with those who attend as well as the many younger residents who love to volunteer on Christmas Day. The project will support 70 people and aims to make the community feel included and valued.

As well as providing support for our communities the projects also have volunteering opportunities which will enable people to gain valuable new skills, confidence, experience and friends and feel the positive impact of benevolence over the festive period.

Hannah Monck, Funding and Innovation Manager at SNG, commented: “We’re really pleased to have distributed this vital funding to our communities especially at a time of year when it is most needed. This fund underpins our core purpose by supporting people with the foundation for a better life and we look forward to supporting some fantastic organisations this festive period, making a difference in our communities.

“This fund also highlights our commitment to invest in our communities and is a taste of what’s to come as we prepare to launch our SNG Community Foundation which will deliver £1 billion of social value over the next decade.’’

Funding from SNG will go towards helping to provide hot meals to isolated people, Christmas hampers and toys for families in need. This is alongside Christmas events designed and run by local communities. Working together, the Winter Wishes Fund will positively impact over 12,000 people in SNG communities this festive period.
